The Avon Park City Council will vote on the attached discriminatory ordinance this coming Monday July 24, 2006.

Two Council persons are in favor of it, as is the Mayor. One of the two council person represents the AFRO - AMERICAN Community. I just spoke to her and she confided in me that her community is telling her to pass the ordinance because they are illegals.

The Spirit told me this is a job for Jesse Jackson.

Mr. Jesse I ask that you come to Avon Park Florida and speak to our Community. It would be Great if you helped us come together and prepare an ordinance to send to the Florida's Congressional Delegation to take to D.C and asking them to get it together and resolve this immigration issue. Us county bumpkins have a solution that will resolve the issue with no politic attached.

I am very frustrated in this whole government. Why is there Black History Month, Miss Black America, Black Entertainment Television (BET), Hispanic Heritage month, NAACP, United Negro College Fund etc. If we had White Entertainment Television, White Pride Day, White History Month, we'd be racists. If white Americans had any organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racists. Each state has its own beauty pageants and whoever wins in each state can participate in Miss America, but only black people can be in Miss Black America. Does that make sense? Why is this OK that Hispanic people aren't required to learn English in a country that is based on English speaking people. How can you let these people disrespect the rest of us like this? Also, why is it that I, a single mother, cannot have the government assistance but the other people in my complex with similar situations can?

I worry that our community is selling themselves short in the political process. I would like to know whether the "black vote" is for sale. The following disturbing revelation has recently become known:

CLINTON SIGNS S.C. ENDORSER TO $10K/MONTH CONSULTING CONTRACT: A key black Democratic leader in South Carolina has negotiated a $10,000 per month consulting contract with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign, a development that became known when the lawmaker endorsed the presidential hopeful. The contract with state Sen. Darrell Jackson's firm, Sunrise Enterprises, is not yet signed but will run through the first Southern primary here next January, Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee confirmed Thursday. Elleithee denied there was any deal made for Jackson's endorsement. "Not at all... We told him, 'We'd love your support as a community leader and love your help as a respected political consultant inside the state,'" Elleithee said. Jackson did not return messages on Thursday. He has told several media outlets that he turned down more money from other candidates.
These are the same so call "black leaders" who stated the following: "Obama winning the primary would drag down the rest of the party. Then everybody else on the ballot is doomed. "Every Democratic candidate running on that ticket would lose because he's black and he's at the top of the ticket -- we'd lose the House, the Senate and the governors and everything." This statement is straight out foolish. For the past 12 years, Republicans had control of both houses of Congress, the Presidency, and many Governorships and key state elected positions; however, there were no "BLACK" candidate ahead of the Democratic ticket. Moreover, the Democrats have lost numerous elections while not having a single "BLACK" candidate not just heading the ticket but also not on the ticket as a Vice President candidate. Just think, the blood, sweet, and tears that were shed during the Civil Rights struggle of the decades of the 50's and 60's will never manifest itself into the things that Dr. King dreamed about many years ago if our own leaders constantly say that we are incapable of wining.
Moreover, we should not blindly follow any single party or political family. Lets be real about it, former President Clinton never appoint no high ranking "black" officials in his cabinet in neither term in office. Yes, he did have a couple LOW-level "black" officials to rather throw his loyal voting block a bone or two. Why was this the case? He could not say that there were no qualified "blacks" who could fill the positions. Now is the time for "Black America" to stop being used as ponds in the political process and start to yield true political power—the fact of the matter is that NO progressive white democratic candidate for president can win the Presidency without the loyal votes of African Americans. I vividly remember your speech at the 1984 Democratic National Convention when you eloquent proclaimed that “our time has come”. However, since that time we have had a woman, white male, Jew, and various other ethic and religious make-ups on the national presidential ticket, but we have yet to have an African American a national presidential ticket. If there is not an African American on the democratic presidential ticket this time around, the current “black leadership would have failed miserably and therefore should be replaced. The time is now for us as a people to act! We need you and many other "black leaders" to show leadership now!
