Every lawyer dreams of being a judge. The robes, prestige, power and pension: It’s the profession’s pinnacle.
In Cook County, there are 40,000 attorneys. And there are 445 judges, of which three sit on the Illinois Supreme Court, 24 on the Appellate Court, and 418 on the Circuit Court. That means one of every 90 lawyers is on the bench.
The qualifications are not onerous: Have a pulse. Be a registered voter and licensed attorney. In theory, any undead lawyer can be a judge, and earn $169,555 annually.
But, in reality, most would-be judges are utterly clueless about the process: Start early, a year prior to the February primary. Get 500-plus signatures on multiple nominating petitions. Run as a Democrat. Get “qualified” ratings from bar associations. Get endorsed by unions and newspapers. Get slated by the Democratic party. Have an Irish surname. Be a woman with an Irish surname. Don’t have a weird surname. Attend political functions and get warm-and-fuzzy with Democratic committeemen. Spend $50,000 for ads and political donations. Win the primary.
And, most importantly, hire Mike Tierney: The Judgemaker.
While obscure to the public, Tierney, who works as a city plumber, has developed his own cottage industry. In the past eleven election cycles, since 1990, Tierney has handled the campaigns of 45 judicial aspirants, and 40 have been nominated in the Democratic primary, and thereafter elected. That’s an astounding 89 percent success rate. Among judges, Tierney’s reputation is legendary.
Tierney’s secret: Institutional knowledge. He knows the process. He knows the players. Lawyers don’t. “They’re busy people,” said Tierney of his clients. “My job is to initiate them. Mentor them. Direct them. And accompany them to key functions.” Already, Tierney is besieged with potential clients for 2012.

Chicago Police scam 7-11 to makes end meet. Steal Coffee and snacks.
I am a great fan of the Chicago Police Department. Most cops are fine neighbors and upstanding Amigos. Many of the cops Daley promoted are pretty lousy and do not provide good leadership. The Daley family expects the public to pick up their tab everywhere they eat and drink. People brought up in the 11TH Ward and Chicago’s Bridgeport communities were brought up that way. Most of the cops I know pay for everything out of their own pocket. This store is in the 400 block of South Green Street. Regular customers like you and I have to make up the difference in the cost of the free coffee and snacks these cops scam. I always see a large group of Chicago Cops and detectives stealing coffee there. I put my life on the line every day at work, but I do not take free coffee and snacks. Photo by Patrick McDonough

Chicago Union Teamsters Local 700 fight for their Workers
Chicago City employees work hard and earn every dime. Daley has ruined the City finances with his multiple scams making it almost impossible for a City employee to make ends meet. Several sources have told me Daley is going to cut workers and take advantage of the mild winter. A consulting company is spinning the press to make the layoffs more plausible for taxpayers. What are the issues?
Repudiation of the Teamsters’ collective bargaining agreement;
Failure to process grievances in a timely manner;
Unilateral reduction in hours of work for hundreds of employees; and
Unilateral changes in working conditions and terms and conditions of employment.
The Chicago Teamsters are going to take the brawl to court and protect their workers. Many unions such as the Journeyman Plumber’s Local 130 are not protecting the workers and the grievance system has been ignored. Several workers have taken their fight directly to the State and Federal government for review and justice. Daley continues to pay millions to politically connect law firms instead of resolving workers issues. I support Teamsters Local 700 for fighting for their union members. I am surprised the Chicago mainstream media did not cover this informational picket. Daley broke the workers contract and he has the city broke. Hello again to all Chicago Clout Fans.
I have taken a few days off to relax and get some private time. A soon as I as took time off to recompose myself, several situations emerged. A current Chicago employee feels he is followed and is harassed by management. We a currently helping this person get the help needed. Some bosses think they can muscle employees, they have not been properly trained, just promoted because of clout.
Another issue indirectly involved Emory Joe Yost, a personal friend of mine. Kevin Long was allegedly attempting to take knives into a Daley Center in Chicago. Joe was mentally and financially tortured by Kevin Long for years. In Chicago, employees are denied promotions when they stand up and protect the taxpayers and the children. I believe the Chicago Park District behavior against Emory Joe Yost has been criminal and retaliatory. The Chicago judicial community is tightly wound and when Kevin Long pulled his tricks on one of their members, it was finally time to apply the long arm of the law. I think the Chicago Park District owes a great deal of gratitude to Joe Yost. If you review some videos we have on Chicago Clout, you will see we touched on the Kevin Long situation months ago. I thank the Sun-Times Staff for interviewing Joe.
During my rest break, I really noticed some differences in America. I noticed many signs for massages, x-rated material, and lotto sales. Many of the billboards are blank or in disrepair. Many of the hotels are out of business. Gas stations are filthy and the bathrooms stunk. Some the hotels and motels were partially demolished and abandoned. Route 41 in Sarasota was loaded with crime and felt dangerous. Many of the thriving businesses are gone and boarded up. Vacant land, abandoned homes and businesses, property values destroyed all over. I missed all the prefabricated homes and the new boats that were towed down the expressways. I was amazed by the lack of crowds at the beaches. The roads had dead animals and truck tires everywhere. The level of service has dropped. I wonder where America's wealth has gone.
When I got back to Chicago, I had a pair of fresh eyes on things that need to get accomplished. Chicago is clearly working in a panic as the impending ax must fall and City Workers will take the brunt of the blame and terminations. I noticed unmarked cars following crews with their clipboards taking notes. Bosses are harassing workers and Daley has every department clearly in a panic. It is hard to determine if the new management style of the new Inspector General will ever match the professionalism and independence of David Hoffman. The legal fees to Daley's private contracted law firms are going to go through the roof defending lawsuits as City employees mistrust of unions continue. The Daley Administration is attempting to discredit workers and play the blame game to cover the years of mismanagement. This is going to be a amazing year in Chicago politics.
Millions of dollars are sent to suburban contractors by Daley. Chicago unemployment at all time high.
Not a day goes by when another Chicago Taxpayer faces unemployment. Anyone upset by the loss of their job should watch Moore Landscapes of Northbrook spruce up the landscaping for his majesty King Rich Daley, Mayor of Chicago. While Chicago Taxpayers feed the meters, this contractor has special passes issued by Daley to avoid feeding the meters. In fact, I noticed this contractor illegally parked at Chicago City Hall. I asked the lady from Revenue if she is going to give them a ticket. She ran away and than Chicago Police asked me why I was allegedly harassing the ticket lady. The police officer was very polite and I explained the truck was illegally parked and I asked her if she would write Moore a ticket. I explained the revenue lady raced around city hall on the south side of the street writing tickets to everyone but this contractor. The Police officer said the Revenue lady has the option to write a ticket or not write a ticket. “It is at her discretion”.
