Chicago's Revenue Trucks Boot and Tow in Hispanic Wards

Chicago Revenue 1.jpg
Mayor Daley gave a song and dance speech at a rally for Chicago’s Hispanic community May 1, 2007. Many Hispanics marched so they might become American Citizens. I hope Hispanic voters marching in the Parade did not leave their cars parked on 26th street a Chicago Hispanic stronghold. Mayor Daley’s Department of Revenue was booting and towing like a bunch of drunk sailors on leave. People at the parade were told to take the bus. I have written many times the poor receive an unfair share of tickets because the rich neighborhoods do not have cops patrolling and writing tickets for any minor infraction. 1. Billie Holiday / Arthur Herzog Jr. said it best:

    “Them that’s got shall get
    Them that’s not shall lose
So the Bible said and it still is news
Mama may have, papa may have
But God bless the child that’s got his own
    That’s got his own

    Yes, the strong gets more
    While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don’t ever make the grade
Mama may have, papa may have
But God bless the child that’s got his own
    That’s got his own

Money, you’ve got lots of friends
    Crowding ’round the door
    When you’re gone, spending ends
    They don’t come no more
    Rich relations give
    Crust of bread and such
    You can help yourself
    But don’t take too much
Mama may have, papa may have
But God bless the child that’s got his own
    That’s got his own

Mama may have, papa may have
But God bless the child that’s got his own
    That’s got his own
    He just worry ’bout nothin’
    ‘Cause he’s got his own”

WHEN IN DOUBT, VOTE THEM OUT

  2. McDonough, are you kidding me?? Cops not writing tickets in “rich neighborhoods”..gimme a break man, one of revenue’s main targets are in parking zones 383 and 143, which cover Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville. Theres a time where you can go down the street and just see tickets one after the other in the wees hours of the morning

  3. So, we’re supposed to shed tears for those who get tickets they can well afford to pay?

I know several active CPD beat cops and they all take more pleasure from writing paper on vehicles worth more than a college degree, than on the rolling beaters typically found in the ‘poor’ neighborhoods.

And, anyway, those ‘rich folks’ should do what the mayor encourages, take public transportation, like the rest of us poor slobs who can’t afford gas, let alone a car and insurance on same.
