David Hoffman for U.S. Senate Get the Vote out Party in Evanston Teamsters Invited

David Hoffman Clout.jpg I called David Hoffman’s office today and became a phone bank volunteer for the 48th Ward in Chicago. I also put together a volunteer task force in several surrounding areas of Cook County. I am letting everyone know because I have been an unabashed supporter of David Hoffman and made contributions to allow him to get his message out. I also called Karen Nystrom, Director of volunteering today at make her aware of the terrible situation with the Chicago Teamsters working at the Chicago O’Hare and Chicago Midway Airports. Workers are asked to show up and are sent home after two hours despite the fact nonunion workers are rock kicking and doing nothing at the airport. Chicago Teamsters also have lawsuits that might just return all this money back, so why not keep them working until a settlement is decided? Many of these teamsters are going to lose their homes and cars despite their heroic round the clock work when the snow emergencies hit Chicago. Several leading Teamsters from Local 700 (former 726) will attend a Hoffman Party in Evanston January 21, 2010 at The Celtic Knot 626 Church Street Evanston, including Angelo Fata. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. I strongly ask those with Union concerns to show up and tell David Hoffman our side of the story. If you are a reporter for Chicago Newspapers and the suburbs, make sure you show up we will have some interesting information. Photo re-edited by Patrick McDonough

  3. Patrick —

This weekend, the Illinois Education Association (IEA), an organization of over 133,000 educators, endorsed David Hoffman for U.S. Senate.

IEA said of David, “We were very impressed by David Hoffman. His intelligence and commitment to public education make him our strong choice for the Democratic nomination.”

David firmly believes that there is no more important investment we can make in America than the money we invest in educating our children. As a Board Member of Providence St. Mel School on the West Side of Chicago, where 100% of graduates go on to college, David has seen firsthand how a successful education program can change our children’s future.

David believes we must focus on innovative, best practices by schools and teachers around the country, and use our resources to encourage all schools to emulate them.

IEA joins the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Herald and many others in their endorsement of David Hoffman for U.S. Senate.

  4. Pat,

Thank you for helping support us Teamsters that are now 2 hour show ups at Aviation. Just to let you know, while we were being sent home at 9am today, the commisioners were in our garage at O’hare drulling over a new piece of equipment that cost the city $650,000!!!! But we were sent home cause there is no money. BULL***!
(Response) Take pictures and we will post on Chicago Clout.

  5. Hello Patrick,
Listen to Angelo Fata, he knows his stuff !! But here is what I think is going to happen here with this (my opinion) goof the Mayor, he is going to run for office again, but what he doesn’t know is that the Teamsters will not support him again !! The old teamsters slate is out. We Teamsters are back in control now, we will stand up and fight for our rights, There are plenty of lawsuits that are filed against this Mayor and his cronies, its only a matter of time when these lawsuits will come out in the open, wait for the election time before all of these lawsuit will become KNOWN !!! The reporters will ask the Mayor “what about all these lawsuits” the Mayor will give his standard answer which is “I don’t know” this is our Mayor he doesn’t know about any corruption going on. Just wait the city workers will have the last laugh on Daley. Come on Patrick, you see the writing on the wall, Daley will be history when the election comes around.

  6. Hey Patrick,
That “A Teamster” must be alligned with Daley, Listen “A Teamster” Fool if there ever was a strike here against the city, what do you think would happen, I am not preaching Violence here, But don’t you think that Hoffa would call in the boys! There would be strikes all over the city, because of our Brotherly love with other teamster members, these Teamsters would help us out as we would them, In fact I was on the picket line with Local 703 and with 705 while I was with our old 726 Teamsters, My Dad was a Teamster, My brothers are Teamsters I come from a Teamster Family. I know we have some “whimps” in Local (726) 700 and these are not true blooded Teamsters, some of our Teamster Members have never been on Teamster rolls, these Drivers just became Teamster because they work for the city, and thats it. I bet if you ask these “New” Teamster member to help other Locals, they would not I think. I am an Old Teamster, I will help other Teamster members, no Matter what. So do not listen to that Fool that says” Be ready for a strike. He must be with Mayor “I Don’t Know” Daley.

  7. Teamsters: I’m sure you are all well aware: If your a city employee and you strike…your fired..
    i’m just sayin

    Best of luck

  8. Hello Retired and happy:
First glad you made it to retirement,!!!! But listen the Mayor broke our contract (I am not a lawyer yet)(thinking of going back and getting my law degree) when he broke the 10 year contract, be broke all the rules in that contract, so we could call a “Wildcat strike” which would give us protection. What do you think would happen in this city if the Teamsters went out on strike, Do you think Mr. Hoffa would sit by and not be here with us? do you think he would not bring the “guys” with him to walk with us on a picket line? What would the reporters ask the “Goof” Why? What? When? Who? and How? Would the Teamster become whistleblowers on the higher ups? Come On Man !!! ALl the TEAMSTERS KNOW what corruption was done, and do you think those Teamster are not going to say anything about it? Come on Man !! There was a saying my Grandfather used to say to me, “Pandora’s box” “CARMA” so if the Mayor wants to play the game of firing us, he might be the one who gets fired, (election?) If he doesn’t run for office again, the corruption that he has done will follow him into retirement. If your hands are dirty, you will get caught. I vote for a strike, because this Mayor had violated us by, with furlough days, reduction days, and a few other things. (in my opinion)

  9. Bruce: I support the Teamsters 100% I would even walk a picket line with you ..even though i’m not a Teamster…the point iI was trying to make is, be sure you guys and gals know what is likely to happen if you call a Strike(wildcat or not). I’d hate to see city Teamsters fired because someone dropped the ball and did’nt know the consenquences of calling a strike…Again, best of luck
