Welcome 2010, last year, 2009 was not good for Chicago!

2009 was not a good vintage for the City of Chicago. The City of Chicago is in turmoil and things might get much worse. On this website, I blame Mayor Daley for many of Chicago's troubles. I will ask many of you to take a good long look at yourself and then decide who the real culprit is. Chicago could be considered a small country by many standards. Too much control has been given to too few, and the results have been disastrous. We need new leadership in Chicagoland. Chicago Clout will continue to help as many as possible, we will work much smarter in 2010. Please run for office if you have solutions, we will give a voice to anyone willing to step forward. The candidate's opinions are different than mine; the city workers voices are different than mine. We have had many high profile candidates and elected officials over the years on our public access show and internet. Please make sure you call Chicago Media outlets his year and tell them your story. Be organized and brief. Remember, if your story is not heard right away, it might be heard later. Everyone is needed to fix our City and our country, but you need to challenge those that use elected positions to reap a financial harvest and pilfer for personal gain. Time to work anew, Patrick McDonough.

  1. Parking Rates To Rise At O’Hare, Midway AirportsCHICAGO (CBS) ―
    Chicago motorists will see higher parking rates at more than just the much-maligned parking meters in the new year. Many parking rates at Chicago’s two airports will be going up as well.

    The city’s Aviation Department said short-term parking rates – four hours or less – at O’Hare and Midway International Airports will stay the same. But most other parking rates will go up by $1, effective Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.

    Which rates will go up depends on the parking lot or garage and the amount of time you park. Officials said the new rates are the result of an increase in the city’s parking tax, which took effect last February.

    At O’Hare, the $1 rate hike will affect parking for:

    • five hours or more in the hourly parking garage;
    • seven hours or more in the daily and international parking lots;
    • nine hours or more in Economy Lot E; and
    • two hours or more for valet parking.

    The 24-hour maximum rates will be $31 for parking in daily lots, $46 for valet parking and $51 for hourly and international lots. All other rates will stay the same.

    At Midway, the $1 rate hike will affect parking for:

    • eight hours or more in the daily parking garage; and
    • seven hours or more in the hourly parking garage

    The 24-hour maximum rates will be $29 for parking at the daily garage and $51 for parking at the hourly garage. All other parking rates will stay the same.

    Parking is still free at the O’Hare and Midway cell phone lots.

    In February 2009, the city’s parking tax was raised from $2.25 to $3.00 for all parking rates of $12 or more, which includes the rates going up at the two airports this year.

    City officials said the airports are raising their rates by $1 instead of the 75 cent hike in the parking tax to keep all parking rates at a whole dollar amount.

    Both airports also increased parking rates in December 2007.

  4. City Plumbing Inspector Convicted Of Taking BribeCHICAGO
    CBS News
    Inspector Accepted Bribes, Jury Told
    (12/4/2009)
    A city of Chicago inspector has been convicted of taking a $7,000 bribe to give the plumbing in an apartment house owned by a husband-and-wife team of developers a passing grade.

    Plumbing inspector Mario Olivella was found guilty Tuesday by a federal jury. Jurors acquitted developer Lavinia Curescu of any wrongdoing and couldn’t agree on a verdict as to her husband, Dumitru Curescu.

    The case was part of Operation Crooked Code — a large-scale federal investigation of corruption involving city inspectors.

    Attorneys for Olivella claimed the evidence didn’t bear out the claim that he’d taken a payoff. He could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years
    (Response) I hope to get James Sullivan to tell us what he knows.
